Had a great weekend with my friends down in Sligo for Matt's house warming and John's going away party. Needless to say when you put us lot together there will be a lot of alcohol drank and this weekend was no exception. Seeing that we all hadn't been together for awhile we may have gone a little too crazy but the group mentality won through on the Sunday morning. Still suffering slightly today but a Monday night football session will hopefully put it all right. Got a big week ahead with my sisters wedding so tonight will be a relatively quiet one but with how I'm currently feeling, I could really do with a few pints to take the edge off.
Here's something I think is very cool

Catching up and Saying Goodbye
This weekend I'm off to Sligo for what will be a massive session for my friend Matt's house warming and my friend John's going away drinks. It's going to be great to catch up with a lot of my friends.
Over the past three years I've missed a lot of family occasions and friends birthdays due to being away on tour or more recently money problems. It's been something that's unfortunately aided the breakdown of friendships and relationships over time but these things happen when you choose a career path that's more like a circus than an average job. I've often thought how nice it would be to have a normal 9 to 5 job but every time I do work in other jobs I really start to miss the crazy lifestyle that comes along with music.
At this point in my life I wish i was more financially stable rather than scraping through each week, but I'm also very grateful for having the opportunities and experiences I have had. My future at this point is very unclear and wont get any better for some time but I'm focusing on the good things like my friends and family and I'm trying to just enjoy life.
With the way the world currently is, it's very easy to get depressed and feel like there really is no point to our existence. It's something we battle on a regular basis these days but I try to remain positive by spending time with the people I care about and trying to not let life pass me by.
So I'm looking forward to Sligo on Saturday and hope the hangover isn't too bad. Knowing my friends it will be, but just like life at the moment we can all struggle through together.

The Day the Capitalists Killed Cereal
I wonder which Masterwank business man made the decision to put all the best cereals in the smallest sized boxes. It really sucks how 'The Man' gets to decide how much of the delicious cereals we get, and even worse how much we have to pay for these child sized boxes. Of course they'll let us have jumbo sized boxes of all the healthy crap but that's not what we want. I think in a world where equality seems to matter so much, we should be able to buy some god damn delicious cereals in a regular sized box. So listen up Mr. Man I'm coming for you and I'm gonna take you out with some really crispy toast. Gangsta style.
This is a joke by the way, but small cereal boxes aren't. Every three seconds a small box of cereal is placed on a shop shelf. To end this injustice give me all your money and I'll get it sorted. Peace

Boots Electric drops ‘Honkey Kong’ Trailer
In June Eagles of Death Metal front man Jesse Hughes released his first song from his solo album Honkey Kong. He is now working under the name 'Boots Electric'. He has now released a video tour of the studio used to record the album. Its quite different from a lot of Eagles of Death Metal back catalogue and this solo album seems to be his opportunity to move into new territory.

The Musical Occultus # 2 The Tree's are a Screaming
Screaming Trees have finally released Last Words: The Final Recordings. The band broke up in 2000 and went into Stone Gossard’s Studio Litho to record the last batch of songs they ever wrote. The tapes were recently found by drummer Barrett Martin and producer Jack Endino. You can purchase the album on iTunes. CD and vinyl versions are to be released in the next few months.
You can also listen to the album for free here on the bands website http://screamingtrees.net/media/
The Tree's are a Screaming and it's music to my ears :-)

Cult Of Personality
I recently came across this song by a band from New York that was formed in 1984. The band's musical style is a blend of jazz, funk, hard rock and metal. This song became the bands signature number and contains some political references that struck a chord with the people of the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xxgRUyzgs0&feature=share
